Pray for the conversations that will follow on and for many people to hear the good news of the gospel and be saved! Pray for our various speakers that they would know God’s peace and strength and communicate well. Open Doors - World Watch List Open Doors has updated the World Watch List. The list of countries where it is most dangerous to be a Christian in 2024. Let’s Pray For Elder abuse Older people are precious, full of wisdom and guidance through every step of life. Often as people age, they feel pushed aside and undervalued. Pray that as a society we would celebrate and take care of older people in our communities. Pray for the protection of older people from abuse perpetrated by those in whom they often have an expectation of trust. Give thanks for organisations which aim to prevent the abuse of older people through raising awareness, providing advice and guidance, influencing and informing policies in this area.
Cost of living Give thanks for organisations like Christians Against Poverty and others who support people overwhelmed by debt and financial challenges resulting from the cost-of-living crisis. Pray that those who are in difficulty will find ways to access the support they need. General CouncilPray for the staff in the General Secretary’s Department as they support several of the Councils in our Church as well as the work of the Clerk and Deputy Clerk of the General Assembly and the Public Affairs Officer. Training in MinistryThe Deaconess Selection & Training Panel meets next Tuesday, 30 January. Pray for the Panel as it oversees the current recruitment of deaconesses. Pray too for Rev Angus Stewart, its convener.
