Let’s Pray For Gary and Mary Reid, global mission workers, Kenya Pray for Gary and Mary whose departure for Kenya after home assignment has been delayed on medical grounds. Pray for God’s timing in regard to their return to work at PCEA Acacia Grove Mission. The Evangelical Christian Church of Halmahera (GMIH), IndonesiaPray for the communities of Central Halmahera as they seek to recover from devastating flooding at the end of July. Pray for effective follow up with the victims, including ongoing medical care, mental health support, and for steps to prevent the outbreak of disease Knowing the blessings of God in worship ‘Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Jesus Christ throughout all generations, for ever and ever!” Ephesians 3:20-21. Ask that as you worship today you may know the blessing of God’s ability to constantly exceed our expectations of him. Let’s Pray For Older people Give thanks for older people and the encouragement and practical help they offer to their families, church and community. Pray that they may feel valued and appreciated, and secure in their surroundings. Pray also for older people in our residential and nursing homes, and for ministers, deaconesses and pastoral assistants who conduct weekly devotions. PoliticiansPlease pray for politicians at the Oireachtas, Westminster and Stormont as they return to Parliament following the summer recess. Pray for wisdom and guidance and for God’s leading in this autumn term. Pray for Christian politicians that they will be ambassadors for Christ in the public square. General CouncilPray for members of the General Assembly councils, committees, panels and task groups as the autumn work of these bodies commences. Pray particularly for conveners and secretaries as they give leadership, seeking to carry forward the decisions and policies set by the General Assembly. Training in MinistryPray for David Leach, Professor of Ministry and Director of the Institute for Ministry, as a new academic year begins. David teaches ministry students, oversees their placements, and manages the recruitment process for potential students, among other things. Give thanks for him and all that he brings to this demanding role, and pray that he will be sustained and used this academic year.
