Let’s Pray For
  • Csaba and Ilona Veres, global mission workers, Hungary | Pray for Csaba and Ilona who are currently on home assignment, that they would know rest and refreshment, enjoy time with family and friends, and be encouraged as they fellowship with PCI congregations, sharing about God’s kingdom work in Bodaszőlő.
  • PAK Mission Society, Pakistan | Pray for the PAK Mission Society which aims to bring hope to unreached and marginalised communities through emergency relief efforts, as well as through leadership development. Give thanks that through the Community and Church Transformation theme, churches are bridging the gap between church and community.

Christian Unions Ireland
The prayer points for this week.

27th Jan – 2nd Feb
Please pray for Dóchas (University of Galway CU) Mission Week this week, that the students would lean on God as they seek to share Jesus on campus and that the Lord will bless the week for his glory and bring the lost to Himself.
Please pray for University College Dublin (UCD) Mission Week from the 27th – 31st January. There are a series of events happening including tea & coffee mornings, lunch talks, Ceilís, football tournaments, testimonies, talks and more. Please pray that through these outreach plans many would come to the events and hear the gospel of Jesus Christ and come to know Jesus as their Saviour. Also pray for energy in this significant effort from the CU students to organise and run.
Pray for University of Limerick (UL) students coming back after their Christmas break this week. The CU will have a social night, inviting non-Christian friends and classmates. Please pray they would come along to connect with the CU and engage with the gospel

New Moderator Designate
The next Moderator of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland will be Reverend Trevor Gribben, PCI’s Clerk of the General Assembly and its General Secretary. This evening, Mr Gribben received the most votes from the Church’s 19 regional presbyteries when they met independently, in various locations across Ireland, to conduct the Church’s annual election for its senior officer bearer and principal public representative.

Known as the Moderator-Designate, he will be formally elected and installed as Moderator by the General Assembly, when it meets in Belfast this June. The Tandragee-born 63-year-old is the 13th minister to hold the office of Clerk of the General Assembly since the establishment of the Church in 1840, and will be the 7th Clerk to serve as the Church in its highest office, the last being Dr Sam Hutchinson who was elected in 1997.

Alongside Mr Gribben, this year’s nominee was his ministerial colleague, Rev Richard Kerr, minister of Templepatrick Presbyterian Church. Mr Gribben received 16 of the Presbyteries’ 19 votes, with Mr Kerr receiving 3 votes. Mr Gribben will be installed as Moderator by the Church’s General Assembly at its meeting in June.
