    BOARD OF MISSION IN IRELAND

    HOME & IRISH MISSION
Donabate Church Plant – Revd Andy Carroll Praise and Prayer for:

    •   Give thanks that the General Assembly passed the resolution to make Donabate a full congregation in PCI.

    •   Give thanks for the 14 people who have gone through membership classes.

    •   Please pray for the period of vacancy in the autumn that constitution to be a full

      congregation will trigger.

    •   Pray for the Church Day Away to Red Cross in Co. Wicklow on 14 June.

Ballina, Killala, & Ballymote Presbyterian Churches – Revd Molly Deatherage

      Praise and Prayer for:

    •   Give thanks for a wonderful evening of gospel music by James Kilbane in Killala Presbyterian Church. Pray for further ideas to raise our profile in town.

    •   One of the women in the Ballina congregation has begun opening the church once a week to try to sell some Christian books and to talk to anyone who comes by. She has had an opportunity to share her faith every afternoon she’s been open. Please pray for more people to come by, for an openness to the Gospel, and for a positive response.

Naas Presbyterian Church – Revd Mark Proctor

Praise and Prayer for:

  •   Praise God for an invitation service recently which was based on the “It’s Not What You Think” resource. This went really well, and we pray that God was at work in people’s hearts. Pray too for follow-up opportunities.

  •   Most weeks we teach some classes in a local national school (primary). There are only a few weeks left of this school year, but we pray that God will use our involvement to reach young lives for His Kingdom.

  •   Recently we started a monthly prayer-time. At the first one I was especially struck by prayers for unsaved family members. This is prayer we all can echo; for our own unbelieving friends and loved ones.

Drumkeeran, Killeshandra, Cavan & Bellasis Presbyterian Churches – Revd Jean Mackarel

    Prayer and Praise for:

  •   RTE Televised Service: June 15 at RTE Studios. Pray for the minister, Cavan group of churches, Choir and Quintet, musicians and readers, as they prepare for another combined televised and radio service, to be broadcast at the end of July.

  •   Give thanks for the opportunity to share God’s Word with so many in Ireland and overseas.

  •   Give thanks for the opportunity to share Gospel Music, Bible Readings and Bible Quizzes with so many in Ireland and Overseas, via Radio Gospel Ministry, ‘Airs & Praises’ on Sundays at 10.00pm.

  •   Pray for energy for the minister at the close of a busy Sunday, and vision to prepare and present ‘live’ this much loved weekly Radio Gospel Hour (running since 1991).

Westport – Rhonda Glass and Karen Burns

    Praise for:

  •   Praise God for good opportunities in the shop over the past while.

  •   We thank God for His continued provision for the free Bible offer. It is thrilling to think

that 360 Bibles have now been given out.

  •   Pray that God’s Word and the Holy Spirit will speak clearly to all who come and convict

    those who need the Lord.

John McCandless, Community Outreach Worker – Mountpottinger & Mersey Street Presbyterian Churches

    Praise and Prayer for:

  •   Give thanks for Friday Men’s Group, and the Men’s Fellowship on a Tuesday evening which has been born out of it.

  •   Please pray for our planned Friday trips out to various places of interest around the province; that not only will our group enjoy time together and be safe, but that this will be a tool to strengthen relations and provide an opportunity to present the gospel so that hearts may be changed by the Holy Spirit working in lives.

  •   Thank God too for the success He has brought and also for the short “time of reflection” each Friday lunchtime and how the men have come to look forward to hearing little truths from God’s Word.

Eleanor Drysdale, Deaconess – Wellington Presbyterian Church, Ballymena

Pray for:

  •   The Holiday Bible Club from 16 – 19 June, and for the Church BBQ on 20 June.

  •   Pray for all the preparations that have to be made for the Holiday Bible Club.

I SPY Portstewart – 2nd, 3rd & 4th July

This Summer, Big Telly Theatre Company invites you to take part in an interactive game involving a series of covert missions led by undercover characters, secret agents & counter intelligence officers.

This game is the first of its kind in Northern Ireland. Teams/families go on covert missions around Portstewart, each one leading to another and each one taking them somewhere they wouldn’t usually go or revealing something they didn’t already know. The first set of instructions are given to each family/team separately (they book a start time) in a very safe place (the safe of our shop/bank), and then each mission ends with instructions about where to go next.  Anticipate SurPrIsES.

Are you ready?

Dates: Wed 2nd, Thurs 3rd and Fri 4th July 2pm-5pm

Each adventure lasts 1hr and starts at The BOX, 13 The Promenade, Portstewart.

Tickets: £5 (limited introductory offer). Under 3’s go free.

Contact us about special group/party/corporate rates on 028 7083 6473

Email [email protected] to book your start time. Minimum team size 4 people. Under 14 yrs must be accompanied by an adult.

This is a brand new type of event.  It’s an example of how an arts project can regenerate town centres, bring people from all walks of life together and allow them to recognise what their local community has to offer. We’re premiering it in Portstewart, before rolling it out across NI next year.

NOTICE FOR CHURCH/PARISH BULLETINS

The TWO Hour Appeal : 1 in 6 people in the UK have a hearing loss. Within Northern Ireland there are 300,000 deaf, hard of hearing or people with Tinnitus. Action on Hearing Loss are working in partnership with the Northern Health Social Care Trust to provide FREE hearing aid clinics in your area. This service is volunteer led and we need YOUR help.

Can you spare TWO hours a month? Two hours per month could provide your community with a free hearing aid clinic.

You will be fully trained to re-tube hearing aids and provide basic maintenance to those in need. Each clinic gives out free batteries, wipes, tubing and information to assist those with a hearing loss.

At Action on Hearing Loss we know how valuable volunteering is, not only for the beneficiaries but for the volunteers.

Sound like something you would enjoy? Get in Touch. Full training provided.

During Christian Aid Week 2014 we held a special collection for the work of Christian Aid, Deborah Doherty sent the following message of thanks.

You can find out more about Christian Aid Here

We are humbled again,

Dear Burnside,

A very sincere thank you to everyone who gave their time, talents and energy to make Christian Aid Week 2014 such a success - we simply couldn't do it without you! We are again truly humbled by all of your efforts.

In a video on our website, the Most Rev Justin Welby, the Archbishop of Canterbury, adds his thanks and appreciation for your invaluable support.

Watch Video Here

Words are inadequate to express our gratitude for what you have done and the money you have raised.

But most importantly, thanks to you, many more people in Colombia, Iraq, South Sudan and elsewhere will be able to lead a life free from fear.

With warmest wishes and thanks,

Deborah Doherty
