At the moment we are reminding ourselves of some of the things we have been learning from God’s word this year.


Let’s Pray For Thompson HouseGive thanks for the work and witness of Thompson House, PCI’s supported housing scheme for offenders. It aims to help residents find and retain employment, and to make use of opportunities for further education. The scheme also seeks to commend the Christian faith and way of life in an open and accepting manner. Pray that God will move mightily in Thompson House.

Policing  Pray for those who serve in the PSNI and An Garda Síochána seeking to keep communities safe. Amidst unique challenges pray for protection as they put themselves in danger for the sake of others, and pray too that officers who have been injured while on duty would recover quickly.

General CouncilPray for the meeting of the General Council to be held during this incoming week. Pray for wisdom for all attending and especially for the Council convener, Very Rev Dr David Bruce, the secretary, Rev Trevor Gribben and the Moderator, Right Rev Dr Richard Murray as he chairs the meeting.

Training in MinistryThe teaching of Union College is very ably supported by staff who deal with academic administration, finance, reception, maintenance, cleaning and other operations. Give thanks for these staff, who are essential to the running of the College and a blessing to faculty and students. Pray that the Lord would bless and encourage them in their important roles.

Let’s Pray For Shirley McGonigle, assistant project leader, International Meeting Point     Praise God that many have returned to the Centre after the summer and new people are arriving daily. Pray for a new believer as she takes her first tentative steps in the faith. Pray that God will bring relief in a difficult situation she is facing.

Council for Mission in IrelandThe Council meets on Wednesday 23 October. Please pray for guidance as various issues are discussed relating to mission in Ireland and particularly as calls are issued for Home Mission congregations, deaconess positions and the approval of Mission Pioneers.

Let’s Pray For Csaba and Ilona Veres, global mission workers, Hungary Continue to pray for the the Bodaszőlő church plant, especially as preparations are finalised for an evangelism weekend from 25 – 27 October which will include a youth night and a ‘light party’ messy church for children.   

United Bible Training Centre (UBTC), Pakistan Pray for Mrs Salma Andrew, Principal, for the teaching staff and the students currently engaged in courses on Christian discipleship and for ministers’ spouses.

The prayer points for this week.


14th – 20th Oct 
This week is CUI prayer week! Please join us in praying for students across the island as they share their prayer points via our social media and our website for their campuses. Prayer week will end on Friday 18th which is IFES world student day. We would love for you to join us in praying for students across the world as they seek to share the Good News of Jesus Christ in their context on their campus. 
Please pray for medical students attending the CMF Irish Conference 18th-20th of Oct. Pray that it would be an encouragement to them to see how they can shine the light of Jesus in their future professions.

Open Doors has updated the World Watch List. The list of countries where it is most dangerous to be a Christian in 2024.

At the moment we are reminding ourselves of some of the things we have been learning from God’s word this year.


Let’s Pray For Galway, Rev Helen Freeburn, ministerPray for newly ordained elders and the election of a congregational committee this winter, that the congregation would continually grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus and be courageous, creative and Spirit filled witnesses in Galway.  Pray also for more Christ centred volunteers for the children’s ministry, youth and student ministries and for building projects at church, that the Lord would guide and provide the right people to help.

Louise Davidson, deaconessPray that Louise will continue to be a support and encouragement to the team, and to all who come through the doors of South Belfast Friendship House. Give thanks for the recent prayer week that took place in Friendship House. Some prayers have already been answered, as new children and adults have attended programmes which have recently commenced for the autumn.

Ask that God would help you to worship him with exuberance today, giving heart, soul, mind and strength to your participation in praise, prayer and listening to the preaching of his Word.

Harvest Thanksgiving
Thanks to everyone who helped with our Harvest Thanksgiving Services. What a special day, worship led by our Choir, floral arrangements by Rea & Ruth, incredibly generous donations to the Ashes To Gold Food Bank and an opportunity to support the PCI United Appeal.
