Beside The Burn
We continue in Paul’s letter to the Philippians - Finding Joy Right Here. Paul reminds us that we are citizens of Heaven but we still have to live right here everyday as disciples of Jesus Christ. Each day we have a short devotional video based on some verses from the letter.

Let’s Pray For Dementia In NI the number of people diagnosed with dementia is increasing; currently there are approximately 20,000 people diagnosed. In our Older People Services care homes we have over 40 beds registered specifically for people with dementia. Pray that people will not feel alone and isolated, and that they will be able to get advice and support from both Health and Social Care services and voluntary services specialising in this area.

EducationAs another school year comes to an end give thanks for those who care for and educate our children and young people in various roles across all educational settings. Pray that summer would provide a time of rest and refreshment for all.

General Council

Pray for the meeting of the General Assembly which begins with Opening Night on Wednesday 22 June. Remember the outgoing Moderator, Dr David Bruce and his successor, the incoming Moderator, Dr John Kirkpatrick in your prayers.

Training in Ministry David Leach, Professor of Ministry, has completed his first academic year in post. Give thanks for him and all that he has contributed in fulfilling this demanding role, and pray that he will have opportunity to reflect and be refreshed over the summer period.

Is Christianity obsolete?
Is it time to call time on an out-of-touch religion? Have we outgrown our need for God? Perhaps personal faith should be just that – a personal and private decision which doesn’t impact public life. In this Short Answers film, guest presenter Clare Williams explores how Christianity can help us answers some of the most pressing questions of our time.

Where have all our leaders gone?
Many congregations are wrestling with a shortage of volunteer leaders for all sorts of activities as they emerge from the shadow of the pandemic. In this week’s blog, coach, educator, and consultant Susan Beaumont confronts the issue and offers her approach to thinking differently about addressing the problem constructively and creatively. This blog is reproduced by kind permission of the Congregational Consulting Group www.congregationalconsulting.org and was written for the North American context, but with a little translation what might it say to your church in its setting and current leadership circumstances?

Praying to Our Father Is a Spiritual Privilege
Kevin DeYoung
To pray with intimacy to God as father is not a human right; it is a spiritual privilege. It is a privilege for the people of God who have been born again by the Spirit of God. “To all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God” (John 1:12–13).
