Christian Unions Ireland
The prayer points for this week. 10 – 16 December Pray for students struggling with social anxiety and the impact of isolation from the past two years. Pray that CUs would be welcoming communities that love them in Christ, extending beyond the weekly CU meetings. Pray for the first years and second years who might have struggled with the adjustment to in–person classes this past semester. Pray for good rest over the break and that they would know God is with them in the busyness and the quiet. |

Prayer For The Global Church
As you may recall, the General Assembly this year featured a session entitled ‘Listening to the Global Church’ providing an opportunity to hear what God, through the life and witness of the global church, might be saying to us here in Ireland. Under the theme ‘Christ our hope’ the Assembly heard recorded video messages from partners working in Zambia, Indonesia and Afghanistan, all of whom have been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic and are also dealing with other major crises at this time.
Zambia - Rev Sevatt Kabaghe, General Secretary Church of Central Africa Presbyterian, Church of Central Africa Presbyterian Zambia Synod shared by video how the church in this developing nation has continued its work and witness during the pandemic despite other challenges of floods, widespread poverty and lack of resources.
Indonesia - Rev Mery Kolimon, Moderator of the Evangelical Christian Church of Timor, Indonesia shared on video about how during the pandemic, parts of south eastern area of Indonesia were hit by Cyclone Seroja at Easter, killing over 200 people and destroying tens of thousands of homes and buildings and how the church played a key role in the humanitarian response. Rev Elyse Niap-McCroskery, a minister of Evangelical Christian Church of Timor, now living in Belfast was also interviewed and asked about her personal reflections on the Cyclone.
Afghanistan - Mikael Turner, Producer of SAT-7 Pars (Persian Channel) on the Christian community in Afghanistan and in a separate video, members also heard Iranian children from Christian families praying for their Afghan sisters and brothers.
You can watch the whole presentation (1 hour video) below or some of the individual contribution from our Global Mission Partners. This is partly what it means to be Presbyterian, working together to do what we cannot alone.
