Tides
Today we move onto Acts 1:6-8 and the disciples are enquiring about timings. We like to know when something is going to happen. When will the restrictions of Lockdown be lifted? Jesus’ words about His return are perhaps good words to bear in mind with regards to Lockdown.
“It is not for you to know times or seasons that the Father has fixed by his own authority.
Don’t worry about the time, just ensure you are prepared. Your role is not to worry about the date, just tell others what I mean to you.
Life is short and very fragile. We cannot be sure of tomorrow. Ask the Lord to help you identify what his priorities are for your life? Pray that you would have the courage to learn to live by them.
Phone Burnside Many of you have been worshipping through Burnside At Home, since we had to stop meeting together on Sundays because of the Covid-19 restrictions. Unfortunately Burnside At Home requires internet access and we realise that this is not available to everyone. That is why I am delighted to announce Phone Burnside this weekend. For those with no internet access you can phone 028 9344 7199 and listen to the sermon for that particular week. At this stage I am just including the sermon to see how it all works. |
•You use your home telephone, or a mobile phone, to call the Phone Burnside number - 028 9344 7199
When you get through, you will hear a recording of the sermon from the latest service.
•If you have a speaker function on your phone, you could use this to make the listening experience a little more comfortable.
•At the end of the recording, you hang up.
•Unfortunately, if you hang up or get cut off during the call, you will have to return to the start.
•The number is a local landline number – so the cost to you will be the same as to any local number. Depending on your phone contract, it may even be included in your 'free minutes'.
•The call will last about 10 minutes
Phone Burnside should be available by Saturday of each week and you can listen at any time during the week ahead.
The Phone Burnside number is 028 9344 7199.
We hope you'll be able to make use of this facility and that Phone Burnside will be a source of comfort and encouragement to you. Obviously people without internet access cannot read this, so please tell anyone who could benefit from this service. Please do let us know how you get on, or if you need any help to access this service.
Thank You
Thank you to everyone who has helped in providing information to get this phone line set up.

In Other News #TheseThreeRemain. With only one subject dominating the headlines over the past few weeks, it might be tempting to think there are no other big news stories happening right now. Karen Jardine (PCI's Public Affairs Officer) takes a look deep beneath the headlines. https://t.co/jcQdzdVe0j |
We have one member of the congregation in Brookhill, so I thought you might be interested in hearing about a recent concert.

“I have included care homes in my gigs and travels across the UK in the past. I knew the staff and residents were really suffering (though it’s only in recent days the magnitude of the problem in the care homes has really come to light). So I came up with a safe proposal and contacted a few homes I’ve played in before. Most gave an enthusiastic yes. Others got word via social media and invited me to come.
“I try to play familiar, upbeat songs so they can sing along and tap their feet. Sometimes the staff gently waltz with the residents and convey requests for particular artists or songs. A typical set contains a mix of country, folk, gospel, wartime songs and favourites like Johnny Cash, Jim Reeves and Elvis. Oh and plenty of banter and anecdotes!
“I have bookings up until May 22 but lots of slots are still available. They all ask me back so I’m trying to work out a circuit with a view to revisiting them all.
If anyone would like to request one of David’s car park concerts, he can be contacted on 07709600408.

You seem to be enjoying the “Where is it?”
Yesterday was indeed at the end of the Mill Road (Burnside Road end) just before the roundabout. Congratulations to Roberta.
Here is another one. Where Is It?
