Phone Burnside
Last week we launched Phone Burnside where you can listen to the sermon by telephone even if you have no internet access. Just over 30 people used the service last week, so it is available again on the same number. This week if you keep listening after the sermon you can hear Rev. Terry McMullan’s report and prayer about PCI Global Mission. Telephone 028 9344 7199 More Details Here |
This week I am delighted that we have Sunday School once again.
There will still be a Children's Message as part of the service but we also have this 20 minute Sunday School from Campaigners Northern Ireland. You can either allow children to watch on a 2nd screen while you listen to the sermon, but better by far is to watch together and learn the songs and talk about the story.
Even if you are not of Sunday School age I know of several adults who enjoyed going back to Sunday School as last two weeks. There wasn’t a new Sunday School video this week so this is an earlier Sunday School that we missed out on. Thanks to Laura.

Our service today is themed around one verse in
2 Chronicles 7:14
Which is a promise from God.
14 if my people, who are called by my name,
will humble themselves and pray
and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways,
then I will hear from heaven,
and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
2 Chronicles 7:14
To think for one moment that, I know what the solution to our problems is, I don’t know the solution but I know who does know.
We need revival!
If we are going to get out of this, we need to humble ourselves and seek the Lord
We begin our service with a Psalm which is all about Revival and the Lord Restoring us
It is not one that we know to sing, but you might like to listen to it being sung by the Sons of Koran.
3 Restore us, O God;
make your face shine on us,
that we may be saved.
4 How long, LORD God Almighty,
will your anger smolder
against the prayers of your people?
7 Restore us, God Almighty;
make your face shine on us,
that we may be saved.
Psalm 80
Lord forgive us for our arrogance
We humble ourselves before you today
And seek your forgiveness
For our Nation that has forgotten you
For each one of us that have neglected you.
Forgive us we pray
Restore us God Almighty
Make your face to shine on us
That we may be saved.
Amen
Our opening praise is
Psalm 80 - Sung by The Sons Of Koran
Taken from the words of the bible.
Psalm 80:1-7 (NIV)
For the director of music. To the tune of “The Lilies of the Covenant.” Of Asaph. A psalm.
1 Hear us, Shepherd of Israel,
you who lead Joseph like a flock.
You who sit enthroned between the cherubim,
shine forth 2 before Ephraim, Benjamin and Manasseh.
Awaken your might;
come and save us.
3 Restore us, O God;
make your face shine on us,
that we may be saved.
4 How long, LORD God Almighty,
will your anger smolder
against the prayers of your people?
5 You have fed them with the bread of tears;
you have made them drink tears by the bowlful.
6 You have made us an object of derision to our neighbors,
and our enemies mock us.
7 Restore us, God Almighty;
make your face shine on us,
that we may be saved.
Why Jesus?

Bible Reading & Prayer from Zara Leslie
Music by Jasmine Morris
Praise from Louise Glenn - Blessed Be Your Name
12 Then Samuel took a stone and set it up between Mizpah and Shen. He named it Ebenezer, saying, “This far the LORD has helped us.”
1 Samuel 7:12 (NIV)
I wonder have you ever seen the piles of rocks or stones around Portstewart?
Why good fun to balance rocks
They stay for a short time and then they are knocked over.
Today I want to tell you about someone in the bible who set up a stone.
Have you ever given a rock a name.
Imagine if I told you that this stone was called Colin.
You would think I was a little eccentric.
But today I want to tell you about someone in the bible who gave a rock a name.
The man is Samuel read about him in 1 Samuel 7 v12
Then Samuel took a stone and set it up between Mizpah and Shen. He named it Ebenezer, saying, “This far the LORD has helped us.”
Stone Of Help
Good to remember that the Lord is with us
In the middle of all of this
God is with us
And he will continue with us.
Why not set up something at home to remind you
A pile of stones in the garden
A pile of books in your room
This far the Lord has helped us
6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. 7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
1 Peter 5:6,7
This Wonderful chorus will not appear in the complete service because of copyright issues
But this is a verse that all of us need to hear and remember in these uncertain times.
It may seem strange to dedicate an offering in a virtual service,
But we come humbly before the Lord todaY and present our bodies as living sacrifices to God
Thank you to all you are still contributing to the church.
So let us pray
Zara Leslie who moved away 4 years ago tells us about life in Australia with bush fires and Covid-19, and then leads us in prayer.
Jesus is able to calm the storm.
There is an old story that is told In Luke 8:22
Today Lord we humble ourselves before you
We seek you
We ask for your forgiveness
We pray taht you would forgive us
And heal our land
Restore us and
Forgive us
We pray for ourselves
We pray for our church
We pray for the Presbyterian Church in Ireland
We pray for all churches in this island
We pray for your church world wide
Revive us we pray
Restore us
Bring us Salvation
For every person who is ill, bring them Salvation
For every member of NHS staff, May they trust in you
For every government official may they seek your guidance
For every Key worker no matter what the job may they do it in your name
AMEN
2 Chronicles 7:11-22 - Zara Leslie
11 When Solomon had finished the temple of the LORD and the royal palace, and had succeeded in carrying out all he had in mind to do in the temple of the LORD and in his own palace, 12 the LORD appeared to him at night and said:
“I have heard your prayer and have chosen this place for myself as a temple for sacrifices.
13 “When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command locusts to devour the land or send a plague among my people, 14 if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 15 Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place. 16 I have chosen and consecrated this temple so that my Name may be there forever. My eyes and my heart will always be there.
17 “As for you, if you walk before me faithfully as David your father did, and do all I command, and observe my decrees and laws, 18 I will establish your royal throne, as I covenanted with David your father when I said, ‘You shall never fail to have a successor to rule over Israel.’
19 “But if you turn away and forsake the decrees and commands I have given you and go off to serve other gods and worship them, 20 then I will uproot Israel from my land, which I have given them, and will reject this temple I have consecrated for my Name. I will make it a byword and an object of ridicule among all peoples. 21 This temple will become a heap of rubble. All who pass by will be appalled and say, ‘Why has the LORD done such a thing to this land and to this temple?’ 22 People will answer, ‘Because they have forsaken the LORD, the God of their ancestors, who brought them out of Egypt, and have embraced other gods, worshiping and serving them —that is why he brought all this disaster on them.’”
Blessed Be Your Name - Louise Glenn.
Louise gives us an update from Bristol and then sings “Blessed Be Your Name” A hymn that reminds us that God is to be worshipped during the difficult and challenging times of life as well as the good times in life. Covid-19 is a challenging time but we can still bless the name of the Lord.
In the land that is plentiful
Where Your streams of abundance flow
Blessed be Your name
Blessed Be Your name
When I'm found in the desert place
Though I walk through the wilderness
Blessed Be Your name
Every blessing You pour out, I'll
Turn back to praise
When the darkness closes in, Lord
Still I will say
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your glorious name
Blessed be Your name
When the sun's shining down on me
When the world's 'all as it should be'
Blessed be Your name
Blessed be Your name
On the road marked with suffering
Though there's pain in the offering
Blessed be Your name
Every blessing You pour out ....
You give and take away
You give and take away
My heart will choose to say
Lord, blessed be Your name
God you give and take away
Oh you give and take away
My heart will choose to say
Lord, blessed be Your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your name

2 Chronicles 7:14
Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone)
A wonderful hymn of testimony
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost, but now I'm found
Was blind, but now I see
'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear
And grace my fears relieved
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed
My chains are gone
I've been set free
My God, my Savior has ransomed me
And like a flood His mercy rains
Unending love, Amazing grace
The Lord has promised good to me
His word my hope secures
He will my shield and portion be
As long as life endures
My chains are gone
I've been set free
My God, my Savior has ransomed me
And like a flood His mercy rains
Unending love, Amazing grace
My chains are gone
I've been set free
My God, my Savior has ransomed me
And like a flood His mercy rains
Unending love, Amazing grace
The Earth shall soon dissolve like snow
The sun forbear to shine
But God, Who called me here below
Will be forever mine
Will be forever mine
You are forever mine

May we be humbled this day
As we seek the Lord may we find Him
May we turn from our wicked ways
And have our sins forgiven
And may this land be healed,
In Jesus’ name
Amen
Each week we end with the little extra of the Getty Family Hymn Sing.
You probably feel by now, that you are actually part of this family, and this week it is Kristyn’s birthday and we meet the wider family circle.
Happy Birthday Kristyn
