This week we on Beside The Burn we turn back to James asking How Do We Cope WIth Suffering?
The Gospel Coalition have produced a playlist of 100 songs inspired by the book of James, and I intend to share some of those songs each day on the Blog, but you can listen to the full playlist during the next few weeks as we continue our studies in this book. I have benefited greatly from listening to these songs over and over again as I have asked God to speak from His word.
You can stream the playlist on Spotify or on Apple Music right now.
Here is the song for today
- “The Earth Shall Know,” The Porter’s Gate
- “When We All Get to Heaven,” Casting Crowns

“Reading Between The Lines” a series working through the bible looking at the well known phrases.
He Flourishes Like A Flower Of The Field
Q) What Do We Believe by True Faith?
A) Everything taught to us in the gospel. The Apostles’ Creed expresses what we believe in these words: We believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from there he will come to judge the living and the dead. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.

Argaman
What did Moses look like? How did Jesus dress? We’re never told. The Bible is an incredible literary work, but it’s often sparse on detail, leaving many descriptions of places, items, and people completely absent. So when Scripture does provide detail, it’s all the more important that we pay attention: the biblical authors may be hiding a gem in plain sight, if we have eyes to see it. One such gem can be found in the use of a shade of red-purple cloth called argaman in different stories. Read the article here: https://www.thegospelcoalition.org/article/red-purple-christ/ |
