WELCOME
Welcome To Burnside At Home And thank you to everyone who is involved in our time of worship today. We are still dealing with Lockdown & Social Distancing and Even though restrictions are being relaxed almost every day, still we are unsure of the future. Church buildings are permitted to open from tomorrow for Church Services, but the overwhelming view at the moment (from our congregation) is that it is too soon to start meeting together. Therefore we are going to proceed cautiously and safely, and take our time before resuming Sunday services in our church Building. With this in mind please be patient as we make plans to reopen. Many of you are still shielding and therefore Burnside At Home will continue over the summer. |
Phone Burnside
Phone Burnside continues, where you can listen to the sermon by telephone even if you have no internet access. An exciting addition this week to Phone Burnside is that on Wednesday the complete Bible Study from the previous week will be available to listen to. Telephone 028 9344 7199 More Details Here |
This week I am delighted that we have Sunday School once again.
There will still be a Children's Message as part of the service but we also have this 20 minute Sunday School from Campaigners Northern Ireland. You can either allow children to watch on a 2nd screen while you listen to the sermon, but better by far is to watch together and learn the songs and talk about the story.
Even if you are not of Sunday School age, I know of several adults who have enjoyed going back to Sunday School as last few weeks. Thanks to Laura at Campaigners for providing this.

Welcome to Burnside At Home
That is the way that I introduce all these times of worship.
I came up with that phrase because
My natural instinct is to say “Good Morning”
But I know that many of you are watching at all sorts of different times.
I tuned into one service recently and the greeting was
Hello Good Morning, Good Afternoon and Good Evening
Which I think just about covers all the options.
The end of the service is not so problematic
Because I end with a Benediction which is a blessing for the week ahead
But recently on the Blog, Lynne left a comment and ended by typing
Love to all at Burnside and beyond!!
Apart from it sounding like something Buzz Lightyear might say,
I thought it was a perfect greeting,
Because during these times of worship we are privileged to welcome the usual every Sunday Burnside Attenders, the regular Burnside visitors and others who have never been to Burnside but who now worship online with us.
So as we worship today,
I borrow Lynne’s words
Love to all at Burnside And Beyond
Let we who live with faith in God proclaim,
"Lord, You are my refuge and my fortress,
my God I will trust forever."
Let we who trust in the Lord know that holy love surrounds us.
God's protection will follow us throughout our days.
When we call out to the Lord,
We know that we are heard.
God is with us in every trial and temptation,
Therefore we will rejoice in the salvation of the Almighty! Amen!
Lord help us to dwell in your shelter
You are our refuge and strength
My Dwelling Place (Psalm 91)
Keith & Kristyn Getty
My refuge and my fortress
When plague and pestilence draw nigh
I'm hidden in His Presence
When terrors fall and arrows fly
His shield will be my safety
When stones across my pathway lie
On angels' wings I'm carried
My dwelling place is God Most High
A present help in danger
I rest secure in love's pure light
Beneath my Master's favor
He freed me from the fowler's snare
Where sin and shame had bound me
Deceived I'd made my refuge there
Till fearless He came for me
Wonderful, powerful
My hope and my defender
Mighty God, Emmanuel
My dwelling place forever
My dwelling place is God Most High
I'll never seek another
For I am His and He is mine
My heart He'll keep forever
I know the Name on Whom I call
He promises to answer
With life He satisfies my soul
And crowns me with His pleasure
Wonderful, powerful
My hope and my defender
Mighty God, Emmanuel
My dwelling place forever
Wonderful, powerful
My hope and my defender
Mighty God, Emmanuel
My dwelling place forever
My dwelling place forever

Joyce will read Psalm 91
Jewel is going to lead us in prayer
And We have a duet from Eileen and Jasmine
Roberta will lead us in the Lord’s Prayer
And we will sing God is our Strength And Refuge set to the Dam Busters Tune, performed by the All Souls Virtual Orchestra for VE Day to say thank you to all those past and present who put their lives on the line to protect us.
And of course it carries on the theme of Psalm 91 but is based on Psalm 46
Matthew 4:1-11
Temptation Of Jesus
Why Jesus?
Because he shows us how to face temptation
Jesus was led by Satan into the desert to be tempted
And like we are tempted
But Jesus did not give into the temptation
The Lord’s Prayer - Roberta Craig
Duet - Eileen & Jasmine - How Great Thou Art
Where do you go if you want to be safe?
Blessed Be The Name Of The Lord
Lord we recognise that every blessing comes from you
Salvation
Protection
Refuge
Today we offer you the thanks giving of our hearts
And ask that you will accept our
Offerings
And may they be used to your glory.
Psalm 91 - Joyce McMullan
1 Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.[a]
2 I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.”
3 Surely he will save you
from the fowler’s snare
and from the deadly pestilence.
4 He will cover you with his feathers,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
5 You will not fear the terror of night,
nor the arrow that flies by day,
6 nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
nor the plague that destroys at midday.
7 A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.
8 You will only observe with your eyes
and see the punishment of the wicked.
9 If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,”
and you make the Most High your dwelling,
10 no harm will overtake you,
no disaster will come near your tent.
11 For he will command his angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways;
12 they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
13 You will tread on the lion and the cobra;
you will trample the great lion and the serpent.
14 “Because he[b] loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him;
I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
15 He will call on me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble,
I will deliver him and honor him.
16 With long life I will satisfy him
and show him my salvation.”
