Sunday School
This week I am delighted that we have Sunday School once again. There will still be a Children's Message as part of the service but we also have this 20 minute Sunday School from Campaigners Northern Ireland. You can either allow children to watch on a 2nd screen while you listen to the sermon, but better by far is to watch together and learn the songs and talk about the story. Even if you are not of Sunday School age I know of several adults who have enjoyed going back to Sunday School as last few weeks. Thanks to Laura at Campaigners for providing this.

INTRODUCTION
Thank you for joining us today. These are such uncertain and worrying times So we turn to God and his word to find hope and encouragement You join us on what is a very important day for the Church This is Pentecost Sunday It is the Birthday of the Church It is the day when we celebrate the coming of the Holy Spirit Now a lot of church activity around the Holy Spirit can be a little weird. All sorts of things are done in the name of the Spirit, Many of which disrespect our Saviour. So today as we worship I want us to be sensible, But also to realise that the Holy Spirit is Mysterious Supernatural Powerful Comforting A True helper. When the Holy Spirit came, It was the birth of the church And today we are the church and we cannot be church without the Holy Spirt Jesus rose on Easter Sunday Appeared for 40 days Ascended into heaven The disciples were told to wait 10 days Holy Spirit came at Pentecost

BIBLE READING
Matthew Beveridge Acts 2:1-17 (NIV) The Holy Spirit Comes at Pentecost 1 When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. 2 Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. 4 All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them. 5 Now there were staying in Jerusalem God-fearing Jews from every nation under heaven. 6 When they heard this sound, a crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one heard their own language being spoken. 7 Utterly amazed, they asked: “Aren’t all these who are speaking Galileans? 8 Then how is it that each of us hears them in our native language? we hear them declaring the wonders of God in our own tongues!” 12 Amazed and perplexed, they asked one another, “What does this mean?” 13 Some, however, made fun of them and said, “They have had too much wine.” 14 Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice and addressed the crowd: “Fellow Jews and all of you who live in Jerusalem, let me explain this to you; listen carefully to what I say. 15 These people are not drunk, as you suppose. It’s only nine in the morning! 16 No, this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel: 17 “‘In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams.
BIBLE READING
Luke 3:15-16 (NIV) 15 The people were waiting expectantly and were all wondering in their hearts if John might possibly be the Messiah. 16 John answered them all, “I baptize you with water. But one who is more powerful than I will come, the straps of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.
PRAYER FOR OTHERS
Loving God,
We ask for the gift of your Holy Spirit to help us pray as we ought. Holy Spirit: Help Us. We ask for the energy and vision of your Spirit for those who are tiring in the battle against injustice and oppression: for those exhausted by the struggle with poverty and hunger. Holy Spirit: Help Us. We ask for the hope and comfort of your Spirit for those whose lives are overshadowed by illness or pain; for those whose lives are darkened by sorrow or bereavement. Holy Spirit: Help Us. We ask for the peace and joy of your Spirit for those living in the shadow of war and violence; for those eaten up by guilt and anxiety and whose Christian life has become hard and dry. Holy Spirit: Help Us. We ask for the guidance and strength of your Spirit for those uncertain how to use their time, talents and gifts; for those tempted to do what is wrong. Holy Spirit: Help Us. We ask for the love and courage of your Spirit for those reaching out to comfort the distressed; for those reaching out to others with the Good News of Christ. Holy Spirit: Help Us. Loving God, We ask for the assurance of your Spirit to know your presence with us in our daily lives: in our relationships; in our work and service; in our worship; in our times of joy and pain. Holy Spirit: Help Us. In Jesus’ name: AMEN Amen
PRAISE
Be Thou My Vision On this Pentecost Sunday, Members of churches all across Ireland, North and South Have come together to sing this blessing To sing this prayer for this land That God would be our vision
Lord Be My Vision
Be thou my vision, O Lord of my heart; Naught be all else to me, save that thou art - Thou my best thought, by day or by night; Waking or sleeping, thy presence my light. Be thou my wisdom, and thou my true word; I ever with thee and thou with me, Lord. Thou my great Father; thine own may I be, Thou in me dwelling and I one with thee. Riches I heed not, nor vain, empty praise; Thou mine inheritance, now and always; Thou and thou only first in my heart, High King of heaven, my treasure thou art. High King of heaven, my victory won, May I reach heaven's joys, O bright heaven's sun! Heart of my own heart, whatever befall, Still be my vision, O Ruler of all.

INTRODUCTION
Our service today is themed around one verse in 2 Chronicles 7:14 Which is a promise from God. 14 if my people, who are called by my name,
I’m asking the question, Why Am I So Arrogant?
To think for one moment that, I know what the solution to our problems is, I don’t know the solution but I know who does know. We need revival! If we are going to get out of this, we need to humble ourselves and seek the Lord We begin our service with a Psalm which is all about Revival and the Lord Restoring us It is not one that we know to sing, but you might like to listen to it being sung by the Sons of Koran.
CALL TO WORSHIP
3 Restore us, O God; make your face shine on us, that we may be saved. 4 How long, LORD God Almighty, will your anger smolder against the prayers of your people? 7 Restore us, God Almighty; make your face shine on us, that we may be saved. Psalm 80
OPENING PRAYER
Lord forgive us for our arrogance We humble ourselves before you today And seek your forgiveness For our Nation that has forgotten you For each one of us that have neglected you. Forgive us we pray Restore us God Almighty Make your face to shine on us That we may be saved. Amen
PRAISE
Our opening praise is Psalm 80 - Sung by The Sons Of Koran Taken from the words of the bible.
PSALM 80:1-7
Psalm 80:1-7 (NIV) For the director of music. To the tune of “The Lilies of the Covenant.” Of Asaph. A psalm. 1 Hear us, Shepherd of Israel, you who lead Joseph like a flock. You who sit enthroned between the cherubim, shine forth 2 before Ephraim, Benjamin and Manasseh. Awaken your might; come and save us. 3 Restore us, O God; make your face shine on us, that we may be saved. 4 How long, LORD God Almighty, will your anger smolder against the prayers of your people? 5 You have fed them with the bread of tears; you have made them drink tears by the bowlful. 6 You have made us an object of derision to our neighbors, and our enemies mock us. 7 Restore us, God Almighty; make your face shine on us, that we may be saved.

Why Jesus? Children’s Message Bible Reading & Prayer from Zara Leslie Music by Jasmine Morris Praise from Louise Glenn - Blessed Be Your Name
CHILDREN’S MESSAGE
12 Then Samuel took a stone and set it up between Mizpah and Shen. He named it Ebenezer, saying, “This far the LORD has helped us.” 1 Samuel 7:12 (NIV) I wonder have you ever seen the piles of rocks or stones around Portstewart? Why good fun to balance rocks They stay for a short time and then they are knocked over. Today I want to tell you about someone in the bible who set up a stone. Have you ever given a rock a name. Imagine if I told you that this stone was called Colin. You would think I was a little eccentric. But today I want to tell you about someone in the bible who gave a rock a name. The man is Samuel read about him in 1 Samuel 7 v12 Then Samuel took a stone and set it up between Mizpah and Shen. He named it Ebenezer, saying, “This far the LORD has helped us.” Stone Of Help Good to remember that the Lord is with us In the middle of all of this God is with us And he will continue with us. Why not set up something at home to remind you A pile of stones in the garden A pile of books in your room This far the Lord has helped us

2 Chronicles 7:11-22 - Zara Leslie
The LORD Appears to Solomon
11 When Solomon had finished the temple of the LORD and the royal palace, and had succeeded in carrying out all he had in mind to do in the temple of the LORD and in his own palace, 12 the LORD appeared to him at night and said: “I have heard your prayer and have chosen this place for myself as a temple for sacrifices. 13 “When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command locusts to devour the land or send a plague among my people, 14 if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 15 Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place. 16 I have chosen and consecrated this temple so that my Name may be there forever. My eyes and my heart will always be there. 17 “As for you, if you walk before me faithfully as David your father did, and do all I command, and observe my decrees and laws, 18 I will establish your royal throne, as I covenanted with David your father when I said, ‘You shall never fail to have a successor to rule over Israel.’ 19 “But if you turn away and forsake the decrees and commands I have given you and go off to serve other gods and worship them, 20 then I will uproot Israel from my land, which I have given them, and will reject this temple I have consecrated for my Name. I will make it a byword and an object of ridicule among all peoples. 21 This temple will become a heap of rubble. All who pass by will be appalled and say, ‘Why has the LORD done such a thing to this land and to this temple?’ 22 People will answer, ‘Because they have forsaken the LORD, the God of their ancestors, who brought them out of Egypt, and have embraced other gods, worshiping and serving them —that is why he brought all this disaster on them.’”

BIBLE READING
John 10:7-18 dad by Reid Anderson
7 Therefore Jesus said again, “Very truly I tell you, I am the gate for the sheep. 8 All who have come before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep have not listened to them. 9 I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. They will come in and go out, and find pasture. 10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.
11 “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. 12 The hired hand is not the shepherd and does not own the sheep. So when he sees the wolf coming, he abandons the sheep and runs away. Then the wolf attacks the flock and scatters it. 13 The man runs away because he is a hired hand and cares nothing for the sheep. 14 “I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me— 15 just as the Father knows me and I know the Father —and I lay down my life for the sheep. 16 I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also. They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd. 17 The reason my Father loves me is that I lay down my life —only to take it up again. 18 No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from my Father.” John 10:7-18

In Christ Alone My Hope Is Found
In Christ alone my hope is found, He is my light, my strength, my song This Cornerstone, this solid Ground Firm through the fiercest drought and storm. What heights of love, what depths of peace When fears are stilled, when strivings cease My Comforter, my All in All Here in the love of Christ I stand. In Christ alone! - who took on flesh, Fullness of God in helpless babe. This gift of love and righteousness, Scorned by the ones He came to save Till on that cross as Jesus died, The wrath of God was satisfied For every sin on Him was laid Here in the death of Christ I live. There in the ground His body lay, Light of the world by darkness slain: Then bursting forth in glorious day Up from the grave He rose again And as He stands in victory Sin's curse has lost its grip on me, For I am His and He is mine Bought with the precious blood of Christ No guilt in life, no fear in death, This is the power of Christ in me From life's first cry to final breath, Jesus commands my destiny No power of hell, no scheme of man, Can ever pluck me from His hand Till He returns or calls me home Here in the power of Christ I'll stand. Christ Our Hope In Life And Death
Christ Our Hope In Life And Death
What is our hope in life and death? Christ alone, Christ alone. What is our only confidence? That our souls to him belong. Who holds our days within his hand? What comes, apart from his command? And what will keep us to the end? The love of Christ, in which we stand. O sing hallelujah! Our hope springs eternal; O sing hallelujah! Now and ever we confess Christ our hope in life and death. What truth can calm the troubled soul? God is good, God is good. Where is his grace and goodness known? In our great Redeemer’s blood. Who holds our faith when fears arise? Who stands above the stormy trial? Who sends the waves that bring us nigh Unto the shore, the rock of Christ? Unto the grave, what shall we sing? “Christ, he lives; Christ, he lives!” And what reward will heaven bring? Everlasting life with him. There we will rise to meet the Lord, Then sin and death will be destroyed, And we will feast in endless joy, When Christ is ours forevermore. In spite of our doubts, may we recognise you in our midst: wounded, bloody, and resurrected in spite of our doubts, may we know when we come face to face with the love that is greater than all deaths in spite of our doubts, may we reach out to touch the wounds of the world’s pain trusting that when grace and love surround them they will become part of Christ’s resurrected body. and in spite of our doubts, may we live as part of your body here on earth.
OPENING PRAYER
(inspired by John 20: 19-31) Lord, We find ourselves in the locked doors of ourselves just as the disciples were behind closed doors. We too are afraid, perhaps for a different reason than theirs. But we too need the breath of the Holy Spirit to take away our fears so that we can come out from behind these locked doors. Lord, we are like Thomas with our questions and our doubts. We sometimes need to see in order to believe, we need you in order to have faith. Lord, we too need the peace you bring because our world is fraught with violence, and unrest. Lord, just as Thomas confessed you are his Lord and his God, we boldly claim you for our lives. Lord we thank you for the blessing you have given us, the ones who believe without seeing. Lord, may you welcome all doubters today Amen.
OPENING PRAISE
By Faith
By faith we see the hand of God
In the light of creation's grand design In the lives of those who prove His faithfulness Who walk by faith and not by sight By faith our fathers roamed the earth With the power of His promise in their hearts Of a holy city built by God's own hand A place where peace and justice reign We will stand as children of the promise We will fix our eyes on Him our soul's reward Till the race is finished and the work is done We'll walk by faith and not by sight By faith the prophets saw a day When the longed-for Messiah would appear With the power to break the chains of sin and death And rise triumphant from the grave By faith the church was called to go In the power of the Spirit to the lost To deliver captives and to preach good news In every corner of the earth We will stand... By faith this mountain shall be moved And the power of the gospel shall prevail For we know in Christ all things are possible For all who call upon His name We will stand... BIBLE READING
John 20 v 19-29 Sara Cunning
Jesus Appears to His Disciples
19 On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jewish leaders, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” 20 After he said this, he showed them his hands and side. The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord. 21 Again Jesus said, “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” 22 And with that he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit. 23 If you forgive anyone’s sins, their sins are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven.” Jesus Appears to Thomas Now Thomas (also known as Didymus), one of the Twelve, was not with the disciples when Jesus came. 25 So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord!” But he said to them, “Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.” 26 A week later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” 27 Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.” 28 Thomas said to him, “My Lord and my God!” 29 Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”
PRAYER FOR OTHERS
As we think about the disciples being in a locked room
And Jesus appearing to them Without Thomas In the prayer for others today We are going to think about rooms where people would have met And where we need Jesus to penetrate.
Let Us Pray
In the evening when the disciples meet Frightened behind locked doors You come to them with words of peace. For wicked plots have failed, And the cruelty of the world has come to nothing, And the betrayal and the denial of friends have not prevailed. Life-giving God, We give you thanks For Jesus has risen. He comes to us with words of peace Come to us today. In government rooms where politicians discuss In city board rooms where executives plan, In court rooms where lawyers debate, Come with words of peace. In hospital rooms where people are waiting, In prison cells where people are afraid In homes where people struggle to make ends meet, Come with words of peace. Come to us whenever we are afraid Whenever we are grieving Come to us now we pray in silence For those we care for and are worried about… Despite the strong and solid doors we lock To protect ourselves To shut out the world Come to us with words of peace. Breathe on us again With your Spirit For you have overcome evil And wicked plots fail And the cruelty of the world comes to nothing And the betrayal and denial of friends do not prevail. Renew us in the power of your Spirit That we may open the doors And go out into the world To bring words of peace to the people we meet. Renew us in the power of your Spirit That we may have life in your name And go wherever you send us In Jesus’ name. Amen.

A LITTLE EXTRA
Each week we end with the little extra of the Getty Family Hymn Sing. I don't think we are getting bored yet because each week the family is more energetic and more chaotic but they bring beautiful worship of our Saviour and show us how Jesus can be part of our everyday lives. As an alternative today you can also watch this Wednesday Night Church from Worship Together with Rend Collective.
WELCOME
Welcome to the North Coast and to Burnside At Home. Thank you for joining with us, it is incredible each week to hear from some of you who are worshipping here. I never cease to be amazed at the loyal Burnside folk who are worshipping, but as we open these digital doors it is great to also be joined by many others. Wherever you are from you are very welcome. CALL TO WORSHIP
Our service today will centre around John 15 Where Jesus tells us that he is the True Vine. He wants us to Remain in Him and Bear Fruit And we will explore that together throughout the service What sort of fruit are we to produce? Paul calls it the Fruit of The Spirit in Galatians 5 The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Galatians 5 v 22-23
Opening Prayer
(inspired by John 15:1-8) Jesus Christ, the true vine, in our need we come to You, in weakness, we come needing Your strength for we too easily become dry and lifeless without Your life-giving spirit. Jesus Christ, the true vine, teach us to remain in You and so to find Your abundant life flowing in us giving strength to our discipleship. Help us to love you, as you have loved us. May we bear the fruit that you would long to see in our lives. AMEN
OPENING PRAISE
Psalm 1 I could not find a version of this Metrical Psalm which includes singing and lyrics so this is the best I could come up with.
PSALM 1
Common Meter: 8,6,8,6 1 That man hath perfect blessedness, who walketh not astray In counsel of ungodly men, nor stands in sinners' way, Nor sitteth in the scorner's chair: 2 But placeth his delight Upon God's law, and meditates on his law day and night. 3 He shall be like a tree that grows near planted by a river, Which in his season yields his fruit, and his leaf fadeth never: And all he doth shall prosper well 4 The wicked are not so; But like they are unto the chaff, which wind drives to and fro. 5 In judgment therefore shall not stand such as ungodly are; Nor in th' assembly of the just shall wicked men appear. 6 For why? the way of godly men unto the Lord is known: Whereas the way of wicked men shall quite be overthrown.
Children’s Message
Why Jesus?
Recognising that in some circumstances it may not always be appropriate to share a complete service of worship with friends or family who are not trusting in Jesus. I am going to try and create a few short videos that you can easily share with others to share the Gospel. This next video is an explanation and the second video is the one that you can share.

BIBLE READING
John 15 v 1-17 Edgar Scott
The Vine and the Branches
John 15:1-17 (NIV) 1 “I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. 2 He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. 3 You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. 4 Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. 5 “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. 6 If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. 7 If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. 8 This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples. 9 “As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. 10 If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love. 11 I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. 12 My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. 13 Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. 14 You are my friends if you do what I command. 15 I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you. 16 You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit —fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you. 17 This is my command: Love each other.

How Deep The Father’s Love For Us
How Deep The Father’s Love For Us
How deep the Father's love for us How vast beyond all measure That He should give His only Son To make a wretch His treasure How great the pain of searing loss The Father turns His face away As wounds which mar the Chosen One Bring many sons to glory Behold the man upon a cross My sin upon His shoulders Ashamed, I hear my mocking voice Call out among the scoffers It was my sin that held Him there Until it was accomplished His dying breath has brought me life I know that it is finished I will not boast in anything No gifts, no power, no wisdom But I will boast in Jesus Christ His death and resurrection Why should I gain from His reward? I cannot give an answer But this I know with all my heart His wounds have paid my ransom Songwriters: Stuart Townend How Deep The Father's Love For Us lyrics © Capitol Christian Music Group CCCLI : 59593
Message
PRAISE - Abide In Me
Abide with me; fast falls the eventide;
The darkness deepens; Lord, with me abide; When other helpers fail and comforts flee, Help of the helpless, oh, abide with me. Swift to its close ebbs out life’s little day; Earth’s joys grow dim, its glories pass away; Change and decay in all around I see-- O Thou who changest not, abide with me. I need Thy presence every passing hour; What but Thy grace can foil the tempter’s pow’r? Who, like Thyself, my guide and stay can be? Through cloud and sunshine, Lord, abide with me. I fear no foe, with Thee at hand to bless; Ills have no weight, and tears no bitterness; Where is death’s sting? Where, grave, thy victory? I triumph still, if Thou abide with me. Hold Thou Thy cross before my closing eyes; Shine through the gloom and point me to the skies; Heav’n’s morning breaks, and earth’s vain shadows flee; In life, in death, O Lord, abide with me.
BENEDICTION
A benediction inspired by John 15:9-17 Christ sends us forth saying - Keep my commandments, abide in my love. Go forth in peace and justice! Love one another, go forth to serve: Go forth in love! Share in my mission, bear fruit that will last: Go forth as your friends, rejoicing! Let us go forth in peace to witness to our community and world, that Christ is alive! Amen
