Sunday School
This week I am delighted to announce Sunday School. There will still be a Children's Message as part of the service but we also have this 25 minute Sunday School from Campaigners Northern Ireland. You can either allow children to watch on a 2nd screen while you listen to the sermon, but better by far is to watch together and learn the songs and talk about the story. Even if you are not of Sunday School age you might want to came back at the end of the service and watch Sunday School. Thanks to Laura

CALL TO WORSHIP
In spite of our doubts, may we recognise you in our midst: wounded, bloody, and resurrected in spite of our doubts, may we know when we come face to face with the love that is greater than all deaths in spite of our doubts, may we reach out to touch the wounds of the world’s pain trusting that when grace and love surround them they will become part of Christ’s resurrected body. and in spite of our doubts, may we live as part of your body here on earth.
OPENING PRAYER
(inspired by John 20: 19-31) Lord, We find ourselves in the locked doors of ourselves just as the disciples were behind closed doors. We too are afraid, perhaps for a different reason than theirs. But we too need the breath of the Holy Spirit to take away our fears so that we can come out from behind these locked doors. Lord, we are like Thomas with our questions and our doubts. We sometimes need to see in order to believe, we need you in order to have faith. Lord, we too need the peace you bring because our world is fraught with violence, and unrest. Lord, just as Thomas confessed you are his Lord and his God, we boldly claim you for our lives. Lord we thank you for the blessing you have given us, the ones who believe without seeing. Lord, may you welcome all doubters today Amen.
OPENING PRAISE
By Faith
By faith we see the hand of God
In the light of creation's grand design In the lives of those who prove His faithfulness Who walk by faith and not by sight By faith our fathers roamed the earth With the power of His promise in their hearts Of a holy city built by God's own hand A place where peace and justice reign We will stand as children of the promise We will fix our eyes on Him our soul's reward Till the race is finished and the work is done We'll walk by faith and not by sight By faith the prophets saw a day When the longed-for Messiah would appear With the power to break the chains of sin and death And rise triumphant from the grave By faith the church was called to go In the power of the Spirit to the lost To deliver captives and to preach good news In every corner of the earth We will stand... By faith this mountain shall be moved And the power of the gospel shall prevail For we know in Christ all things are possible For all who call upon His name We will stand... BIBLE READING
John 20 v 19-29 Sara Cunning
Jesus Appears to His Disciples
19 On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jewish leaders, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” 20 After he said this, he showed them his hands and side. The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord. 21 Again Jesus said, “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” 22 And with that he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit. 23 If you forgive anyone’s sins, their sins are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven.” Jesus Appears to Thomas Now Thomas (also known as Didymus), one of the Twelve, was not with the disciples when Jesus came. 25 So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord!” But he said to them, “Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.” 26 A week later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” 27 Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.” 28 Thomas said to him, “My Lord and my God!” 29 Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”
PRAYER FOR OTHERS
As we think about the disciples being in a locked room
And Jesus appearing to them Without Thomas In the prayer for others today We are going to think about rooms where people would have met And where we need Jesus to penetrate.
Let Us Pray
In the evening when the disciples meet Frightened behind locked doors You come to them with words of peace. For wicked plots have failed, And the cruelty of the world has come to nothing, And the betrayal and the denial of friends have not prevailed. Life-giving God, We give you thanks For Jesus has risen. He comes to us with words of peace Come to us today. In government rooms where politicians discuss In city board rooms where executives plan, In court rooms where lawyers debate, Come with words of peace. In hospital rooms where people are waiting, In prison cells where people are afraid In homes where people struggle to make ends meet, Come with words of peace. Come to us whenever we are afraid Whenever we are grieving Come to us now we pray in silence For those we care for and are worried about… Despite the strong and solid doors we lock To protect ourselves To shut out the world Come to us with words of peace. Breathe on us again With your Spirit For you have overcome evil And wicked plots fail And the cruelty of the world comes to nothing And the betrayal and denial of friends do not prevail. Renew us in the power of your Spirit That we may open the doors And go out into the world To bring words of peace to the people we meet. Renew us in the power of your Spirit That we may have life in your name And go wherever you send us In Jesus’ name. Amen.

BENEDICTION
This is the message I have heard from him and now celebrate with you: Christ is risen! He is risen indeed. Blessed are you who have not seen him, yet you truly believe and trust him. See how good and faithful our God is AMEN
A LITTLE EXTRA
Each week we end with the little extra of the Getty Family Hymn Sing. I don't think we are getting bored yet because each week the family is more energetic and more chaotic but they bring beautiful worship of our Saviour and show us how Jesus can be part of our everyday lives. As an alternative today you can also watch this Wednesday Night Church from Worship Together with Rend Collective.
