There is a Blog which you can read each weekday

A Virtual Prayer Room which you can use to spend time with God.

We have a Telephone Line set up which can be used
to listen to the service if you don’t have internet.
Please do check out these things

Thank you for joining with us today
As we tackle some very weighty issues in our worship

Today is all about Life and living it to the max
But we will very quickly discover that to have the best life,
We also have to understand death.

Death is not something that we like to talk about.
And yet everyday it is all we are hearing about
So lets worship God
And lets come to understand this
Matter Of Life And Death
Phone Burnside
Last week we launched Phone Burnside where you can listen to the sermon by telephone even if you have no internet access. Just over 30 people used the service last week, so it is available again on the same number. This week if you keep listening after the sermon you can hear Rev. Terry McMullan’s report and prayer about PCI Global Mission.

Sunday School

This week I am delighted that we have Sunday School once again.
There will still be a Children's Message as part of the service but we also have this 25 minute Sunday School from Campaigners Northern Ireland. You can either allow children to watch on a 2nd screen while you listen to the sermon, but better by far is to watch together and learn the songs and talk about the story.
Even if you are not of Sunday School age I know of several people who enjoyed going back to Sunday School last week. Thanks to Laura

CALL TO WORSHIP

In Psalm 130 we read ...
7 put your hope in the LORD,
for with the LORD is unfailing love
and with him is full redemption.
8 He himself will redeem you
from all your sins.
Psalm 130

Let’s sing that Psalm with the Gettys
the times we are living in are dark
In this Psalm we sing,

Out of the depths I cry to You
In darkest places I will call
Incline Your ear to me anew
And hear my cry for mercy, Lord

I will wait for You
I will wait for You
On Your Word, I will rely
I will wait for You
Surely wait for You
Till my soul is satisfied

Life - satisfaction is found in God
OPENING PRAISE

I will Wait For You - (Psalm 130)
I Will Wait For You (Psalm 130)
Keith and Kristyn Getty

Kristyn Getty, Keith

I pray my soul waits for the Lord
My hope is in His Word
More than the watchman waits for dawn
My soul waits for the Lord

Out of the depths I cry to You
In darkest places I will call
Incline Your ear to me anew
And hear my cry for mercy, Lord

Were You to count my sinful ways
How could I come before Your throne
Yet full forgiveness meets my gaze

I will wait for You
I will wait for You
On Your Word, I will rely
I will wait for You
Surely wait for You
Till my soul is satisfied

So put your hope in God alone
Take courage in His power to save
Completely and forever won
By Christ emerging from the grave

I will wait for You
I will wait for You
On Your Word, I will rely
I will wait for You
Surely wait for You
Till my soul is satisfied

Now He has come to make a way
And God Himself has paid the price
That all who trust in Him today
Find healing in His sacrifice

I will wait for You
I will wait for You
On Your Word, I will rely
I will wait for You
Surely wait for You
Till my soul is satisfied

I will wait for You
I will wait for You
Through the storm and through the night
I will wait for You
Surely wait for You
For Your love is my delight

OPENING PRAYER
COMING UP

There is a lot coming up in Burnside At Home Today
In a Moment. Why Jesus?
A message for our children about Lazarus
Our Bible Reading is from John 10 read by Reid Anderson.
And the Rev. Terry McMullan is going to share some thoughts about Global Mission with us and lead us in prayer
WHY JESUS?
This is the 3rd video in a series answering the question - Why Jesus?
You can find the video on a page on its own which will be easier to share.

Only Jesus can satisfy
This woman had looked every where
Where are you looking
Go back again and again
Jesus satisfies.

Jesus answered, "Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life."
John 4:13-14 (NIV)

Eternal Life comes from him

CHILDREN’S MESSAGE

Jesus is the resurrection and the life
Was Lazarus happy when he came back from the dead?

Jesus said to Martha,

“I am the resurrection and the life.
The one who believes in me will live,
even though they die;
26 and whoever lives by believing
in me will never die.

All around you, and within you

BIBLE READING

John 10:7-18 dad by Reid Anderson

7 Therefore Jesus said again, “Very truly I tell you, I am the gate for the sheep. 8 All who have come before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep have not listened to them. 9 I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. They will come in and go out, and find pasture. 10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

11 “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. 12 The hired hand is not the shepherd and does not own the sheep. So when he sees the wolf coming, he abandons the sheep and runs away. Then the wolf attacks the flock and scatters it. 13 The man runs away because he is a hired hand and cares nothing for the sheep.

14 “I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me— 15 just as the Father knows me and I know the Father —and I lay down my life for the sheep. 16 I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also. They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd. 17 The reason my Father loves me is that I lay down my life —only to take it up again. 18 No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from my Father.”
John 10:7-18

In Christ Alone - Louise Glenn
What a delight to welcome Louise Glenn back to lead our worship today. Louise grew up in Burnside and her mum Barbara still attends, Louise used to lead worship each week and today reprises her role as she joins us from her home in Bristol.
In Christ Alone My Hope Is Found

In Christ alone my hope is found,
He is my light, my strength, my song
This Cornerstone, this solid Ground
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm.
What heights of love, what depths of peace
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease
My Comforter, my All in All
Here in the love of Christ I stand.

In Christ alone! - who took on flesh,
Fullness of God in helpless babe.
This gift of love and righteousness,
Scorned by the ones He came to save
Till on that cross as Jesus died,
The wrath of God was satisfied
For every sin on Him was laid
Here in the death of Christ I live.

There in the ground His body lay,
Light of the world by darkness slain:
Then bursting forth in glorious day
Up from the grave He rose again
And as He stands in victory
Sin's curse has lost its grip on me,
For I am His and He is mine
Bought with the precious blood of Christ

No guilt in life, no fear in death,
This is the power of Christ in me
From life's first cry to final breath,
Jesus commands my destiny
No power of hell, no scheme of man,
Can ever pluck me from His hand
Till He returns or calls me home
Here in the power of Christ I'll stand.

MESSAGE

I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

John 10:10
PRAISE
Christ Our Hope In Life And Death
Christ Our Hope In Life And Death

What is our hope in life and death?
Christ alone, Christ alone.
What is our only confidence?
That our souls to him belong.
Who holds our days within his hand?
What comes, apart from his command?
And what will keep us to the end?
The love of Christ, in which we stand.

O sing hallelujah!
Our hope springs eternal;
O sing hallelujah!
Now and ever we confess
Christ our hope in life and death.

What truth can calm the troubled soul?
God is good, God is good.
Where is his grace and goodness known?
In our great Redeemer’s blood.
Who holds our faith when fears arise?
Who stands above the stormy trial?
Who sends the waves that bring us nigh
Unto the shore, the rock of Christ?

Unto the grave, what shall we sing?
“Christ, he lives; Christ, he lives!”
And what reward will heaven bring?
Everlasting life with him.
There we will rise to meet the Lord,
Then sin and death will be destroyed,
And we will feast in endless joy,
When Christ is ours forevermore.

A LITTLE EXTRA
Each week we end with the little extra of the Getty Family Hymn Sing.
I think this may be the only thing that many of us will miss once Lockdown restrictions are lifted.

Thank you Richard for yet another wonderful service. However, this one shall remain stilled in my heart forever as, with tears of joy rolling down my cheeks, I witnessed the Lord's answer to our prayers with EDITH back amidst us and playing the piano so eloquently. What a joy and thank you Lord!
Even with the Getty's 'Blue Grass' session, not withstanding Richard;s message, Edith still stole the show
