This week we continue our theme from Sunday of ‘RESENT’. Each day we develop the theme a little more in a short 5 minutes video.
Let’s Pray For Social Witness
Give thanks for God’s protection of our work and witness. Give thanks for dedicated staff, often going the extra mile in their caring of residents and tenants. Pray for residents and tenants as they meet the daily challenges of Covid-19. Pray for family and friends struggling with restricted contact with loved ones. Vaccine development Give thanks for the many people working on a vaccine to provide immunity against Covid-19. Pray that they would continue to make quick progress to find a safe and cost-effective result. |
Every Friday, Frances shares a song that means something to her.
Two weeks ago, we focused on the Song, ‘Yet not I but through Christ in me.’ I referred at that time to the fact that CityAlight is the Worship Ministry of a Church in Australia. Today I wish to bring to you another of their Songs, ‘Jesus, Strong and Kind.’
This is a simple song, reminiscent of the Hymn, ‘Jesus loves Me,’ but it contains Scriptural truths which speak into our various situations. Jesus invites us to come to Him if we are thirsty, weak or afraid, and He cares by coming alongside us in our trials.
The first three verses of the Hymn tell how we can approach Jesus in our difficulties. The words of these verses are based on John 6:37 NIV where we read: ‘All those the Father gives me will come to Me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away.’
The final verse expresses the sense of security which results when Jesus approaches us if we feel lost.
In Luke’s Gospel, Chapter 15, we have an account of three Parables which Jesus told to emphasize this, the Parable of the lost sheep, the lost coin, and the lost son. Each describes the joy and celebration which resulted when someone or something was found.
What a sense of security we experience as our Hymn this week, interspersed with Bible references, reminds us of ‘Jesus, Strong and Kind’
