Advent 2021
This Advent we are going to approach Christmas through the book of Ruth. Beginning on Monday 22nd November we are going to read some verses, think about what they mean and worship using a Christmas song. Finding Hope Under Bethlehem Skies I am going to base the thoughts each day on a new book of Advent Devotional Readings - “Finding Hope Under Bethlehem Skies” by Robin Ham. It will add to your experience if you have a copy of the book (although it is not essential). You can order it through : 10 Of Those https://www.10ofthose.com/ Amazon https://www.amazon.co.uk Or order it at Faith Mission Bookshops or where ever you buy your books. You can read a sample of the book here https://beta.10ofthose.com Please note we will be starting the Advent adventure early on Monday 22nd November (as we will be using weekdays only and taking a break on Saturdays and Sundays). |
A limited number of books will be available on Sunday in the vestibule.
If you would like one simply take a book and leave £3 in an envelope marked. with you name. |
Let’s Pray For Social Witness
Pray for the many thousands of unpaid carers as they do their best to support elderly relatives and those living with disabilities, especially during the pandemic and beyond. Pray for parents growing older who are concerned about looking after their adult children with learning/physical disabilities long-term. Dealing with the past Pray for people who find this time of year difficult as they remember loved ones who have been killed or injured during the conflict in Northern Ireland. Pray that they would know the comfort of the God of all peace. General Council Pray for the General Secretary’s Department and the Clerk as regular meeting schedules recommence and the work of the various Councils restarts in the aftermath of the General Assembly. Please remember the staff at Assembly Buildings as they try to re-establish more normal working patterns and serve the congregations of PCI with Covid-19 restrictions still ongoing. Council for Training in Ministry The Ministerial Studies and Development Committee meets on Monday 15 November. It oversees the training pathways of trainee ministers, and their congregational placements. Pray for the Committee, meeting for the first time post-Covid-19, and for Rev Andrew Faulkner, its convener. Ask God to give wisdom in all decisions about the training of students. |
