24 – 30 January
Pray for two churches in the Dublin area who would love to restart an international cafe for students. Pray for willing volunteers and pray students would come to know the love and welcome of Jesus through the love and welcome of his people.
Pray for the Events Week sub–committee in University College Dublin as they too begin to finalise events and speakers for their Events Week in February. Pray for speakers as they prepare and pray the Holy Spirit would be at work in the hearts of all the students who hear the gospel.
Winter Olympics - Praying For Christians in China
Pastor Wang Yi has been in prison more than 1,100 days and is serving a nine-year prison sentence for leading a large unregistered church in Chengdu, China. He was open about his ministry, even posting sermons on YouTube. He was also open about his loyalties; he made it clear that while he loves his nation, his first loyalty is to Jesus Christ.
To Communist officials, Pastor Wang is a grave threat. His church has been continually harassed, and police have detained or arrested many of its members. Since her husband’s arrest, Pastor Wang’s wife has essentially been under house arrest, unable to interact with other church members.
Pastor Wang Yi and his family are among millions of Christians in China who are suffering persecution for proclaiming the truth of Christ. As you watch the Olympic Games, remember to pray for them.
